Tantra Temples in Khajuraho

Well, I finally made it to Khajuraho!

I had a wonderful guide named Seepu Singh. Turns out he's studied Tantra and something called Bhopo Yoga which he explained as being very similar to the ancient Tantras.

Anyway, I cannot write it all now, but just wanted to get this post started.

The first day we took a motor rickshaw to a three temples. I was amazed. It turns out all the erotic carvings are on the outside of the temple walls. I don't know what I thought. I guess I thought those carvings were on the inside. At the first temple, there were many carvings or reliefs on one level and then if I looked closely, on a more inside level of carving, I could see vrious Kama Sutra postures. It's like they carved the layers in veils for the naked eye to distinguish. The carvings are rich with beautiful temple dancers and Parvati (Shiva's wife), and Laxshmi (goddess of abundance). At this particular place, not all was obvious.

By the way, Khajuraho is quiet, lush green and just a lovely country town. I cannot tell you how beautiful it is. Perfect place for the Tantra memorials.

I will write more later. There is much to tell.
